When the inner partitions were knocked down, a large space came to light in the Ottonian part of the Abbey next to the cloister; at some time it had probably served as a Capital Hall, because there is a splendid quadrifoil window at the back, and the remains of regurarly spaced bulkheads that may have enclosed the monks' benches. At present, the Hall is used to exhibit photographs and sketches illustrating the stages in the recent restoration.
Interno Castello During recent repairs, very old Romanesque structures were discovered on both floors of the 13th century Abbey building. The Museo del Monte has been set up there; it contains documents about the history of the Abbey and the life led by the monks, besides fine specimens of the vegetation and geology of the Monte and the sea surrounding it. In particular, there are show-cases on both floors with table and kitchen chinaware used by the monks from the 13th to the 16th century.
These and other objects were discovered in a store-room in the Abbey during restoration work. Three computerized listening devices giving interesting information have been placed along the visitors' route.
